Psycho-therapy

Dear Lionel,
It was a pleasure to meet you and have you as a client. Last week we had an interesting discussion about your life in general, and about your perspective and belief on happiness. Happiness is abstract, and each of us have our own definition and understanding of happiness, and how to reach it. From our conversation I understood that you are in love, but you feel also that you put to much pressure on the object of your admiration.I would say that you should be less critical with yourself and not take everything personally, people are different and their reaction towards you depends also on their personality. Finding happiness is not easy, but as I said it depends on your attitude as well. So, be less critical on yourself, take one step at a time, accept yourself the way you are and once you find inner peace, happiness will come. Hope to hear from you soon, let me know if you need to talk.It was a pleasure to meet you and have you as a client.

Best Regards,

Marcela

Lionel Essrog: what’s the most interesting or compelling aspect of his character? Who would you choose to play him, and why?

I think that I am going to write about Lionel, and his inner world. Lionel is a very complex character, and like the change he is going through in the novel. At the beginning of the novel we have one Lionel and we witness the transformation towards the end. I am a Social Service students and complex personalities make me think and see the world from my client’s perspective.  Lionel’s inner world is conflicting, his views on the outside world contradict the inner ones.

I also loved his tendency to be loved and love, his tendency to belonging. However, we can see also that Lionel is not ready for what may happen if he gets what he wants. He does not know how to react, because he never had a family and did not feel that he belongs somewhere.

I think that towards the end of the novel he gains a little more confidence, and independence, he gets rid of all the connections to the past, and he is ready for what the future may reserve. He is more courageous to tale individual steps, because at the beginning of the novel he is like a baby, he is afraid to make steps on his own for the fear not to fail.

As for an actor who might play him, firstly I was thinking Al Pacino, but he would perfectly fit in the character of Matricardi or Rockaforte. So, I think that Johnny Depp could play his role, because he is not afraid to be ridiculous, but at the same time easily offended.

Words stuck in my head

Unsaid words that I regret

Hope to find peace within
